What is the history of World First Aid Day?
The idea of raising awareness on the importance of first-aid dates back to 1859. Henry Dunant, a Swiss-born businessman from Switzerland, helped many soldiers on both sides of the battle of Solferino. He was so shocked by what he saw, where many soldiers died from their injuries because of a lack of care, he became one of the founders of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
