Meditate with constancy

Meditate with constancy: How and where to do it?

Meditation can play an important role in our lives. From this practice, in fact, derive various beneficial effects on body and mind: this is scientifically proven by hundreds of researches that agree on the ability of meditation to make the mind more peaceful and lucid. In particular, it helps to clarify ideas, reduce stress, anxiety, calm the nerves and relax them. It also reduces depressive states, fear and stabilizes mood. Finally, it also helps to create harmony in relationships and to develop benevolence towards others.

Constancy is fundamental

The greatest difficulty linked to the practice of meditation is probably inconstancy and irregularity in practice. To overcome it you need to work hard: in meditation, both the method and the right technique count. The secret lies in the desire to change and in the choice to strive to know oneself and reach a state of inner balance. Constancy is an imperative to which perhaps even too much relief is given when it comes to concrete questions such as study, affections, work, but it is completely neglected when one must dedicate oneself to any spiritual path. And there is nothing more wrong: the constancy in the periodic practice of meditation is a point from which one cannot disregard.

Where and when to meditate

First of all it is a good habit to always meditate at the same time and in the same place. At the same time because our body needs regular rhythms, in the same place because this remains charged with the positive energies produced by meditation, favoring a kind of circular process. But for those who have a more dynamic and hectic life, today there is the possibility of meditating at anytime and anywhere, which give access to a reserved area where you can find many useful tools and exercises to enhance and relax the mind.

But there are ideal moments, which are better because they can give more tangible results: we talk about sunrise, sunset, midday and midnight. The moment of awakening is very indicated for meditation: the brain is more charged with energy, less disturbed by events, worries and interferences that will fill the course of the day. As far as the place is concerned, it is advisable to choose a corner of the house where you feel comfortable and feel positive.

How to overcome obstacles

Meditating may seem like an easy activity, as it requires you to sit and avoid thinking. However, those who begin to experiment with this practice immediately realize the difficulty in having to remain immobile and remove the unstoppable flow of thoughts that usually begins to clutter the mind. Often the latter is the main obstacle, which can be circumvented by trying to organize thoughts rationally, without the need to eliminate them altogether. Another problem is the immobility that you think is fundamental, when in reality all you really need to meditate is to focus on your breath. Whether for an hour, a minute or even 16 seconds.

Theoretically, you could stay and meditate all day while doing daily activities and therefore it is not necessary to remain still. The biggest excuse for not meditating is not having enough free time to devote to this activity. We must therefore rationalize and think about giving up some useless activity, how to be distracted by technology and social media, to have at least five minutes a day to meditate. You can set an alarm or schedule it on your calendar. When you start meditating, for some, the idea of having to sit without doing anything is a big obstacle but what you have to learn from this is instead that you have to get your mind used to doing nothing. With time, this practice helps to change the perspective on life, giving a greater inner awareness that is useful for making important choices in life.
